A HARD TOUCH

FENTON/FALLON for J. CREW

"Like a page out of a romance novel, the proverbial love affair between J. Crew creative director Jenna Lyons and Fenton-Fallon designer Dana Lorenz ignited when the two were seated next to each other at a dinner party. "We couldn't stop talking," Lyons explains. Well, one thing led to another, and a jewelry collaboration was conceived. And the rest, as they say, is fashion history.

The seven-piece limited-edition collection of chunky statement necklaces and bracelets, called Fenton-Fallon for J. Crew, debuts this April. The reworked industrial metal pieces, which range in price from $95 to $295, lend a hip tough-chic appeal to the brand best known for its pitch-perfect staples. Lorenz elaborates on the project: "I didn't water my design down at all. I included all of my iconic Fenton-Fallon things, like the pyramid studs, spikes, and jumbled chains." Proving that at the end of the day, opposites really do attract.

Toughen Up

Harpers Bazaar AUS
August 2009
Model - Emma Balfour
Photography - Pierre Toussaint
Styling - Christine Centenera

This editorial reminds me of a mix between Erin Wasson's style, James Bond, and Salvador Dali.
I can definitely picture a Californian business woman letting loose and hitting the beach in these ensembles after work. With the addition of some tough accent pieces to her nude palate shes ready for a night out. I love when editorials go above and beyond. The styling by Christine Centenera definitely pulled out the genius card on this one.

Neverland

I am fascinated by home interiors. Besides experimenting with fashion and developing your personal style, interior design is the perfect way to express one's self. Unlike dress, where appearance is public, the home is your own intimate sanctuary of expression. Padma Lakshmi's home is paradise. Her gorgeous gold chandeliers and gold framed artwork give the home a nouveau riche feel, while the brightly colored library, lush closet, and personalized Indian accents are perfect representations of Padma's interests. I love mixing colors and patterns, whether its with wallpaper, throw pillows, or furniture. One's personality definitely shines through with these aesthetic interior elements. Bright artwork, coffee table books, fresh flowers and candles are also important in bringing a home's ambiance together. And of course great background music also lets your individualism shine through.

Harper's Bazaar and Vogue have section's in their magazines that showcase some of the world's most unique personalities, be it entrepreneurs, fashion designers, or artists.

...A swing in your living room?!

Ah, one can only dream...
